Discovering Stillness in Movement

GURDJIEFF

Movements are an essential part of the teaching of G.I. Gurdjieff, an enlighted mystic of the 20th century. Gurdjieff created around 250 Movements or Dances, which some come from Sufi, Tibetan, Buddhist, Gnostic traditions, from Asia, Tibet, Egypt… Some movements were created by Gurdjieff himself on a music composed by Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartmann.

MOVEMENTS

Gurdjieff Movements are all about being aligned in the present moment. They are an exploration of stillness through movement. This exploration is both individual and collective. Working on the body (action), the heart (emotions) and the mind (the intellect), Gurdjieff Movements awaken in us a longing to reach higher, to go beyond the smallness we envelope ourselves in and to touch spaces beyond the mundane.

A series of movements, gestures and postures, given very precisely by G.I. Gurdjieff, they help us with an inner transformation that is incomparable. Taking us beyond our habitual patterns of thinking, moving and seeing, they allow us to ‘be’ our natural selves.
Using movement, dance, meditation and creating quiet, still spaces, we will discover how easy it is to enter the stillness that we all have within us. The movements on the periphery help us discover the depth of stillness within. This is a unique opportunity to participate in a very rare and sacred dance and movement workshop. Please wear some loose and comfortable clothing. These movements can be done barefoot, with socks or dance shoes.
